ALTSPACE VR

From our fellow, Cátia Narciso of Lisbon, Portugal

2 February – 2016

Today I went again to Draper University to a workshop about Virtual Reality (VR). The speaker was Eric Romo from AltspaceVR. Virtual reality has been in development for decades, but is currently a large trend. Driven by the mobile industry, hardware costs have fallen 100x in 5 years. Moore’s low progressions make computing power more affordable.

AltspaceVR was founded in January 2013. Virtual reality companies are usually communication companies, which have the main goal of improving quality of life by providing human beings tools to connect them across the globe in a real way.

I thought it was a really interesting workshop. The slides were a great walk through to help me understand this concept of virtual reality, and Allie Felixwas also very helpful when I arrived. Thank you to AltspaceVR, Allie Felix andHero City at Draper University to make this opportunity possible!
